[ Well, it's good that she gets surprise phonecalls so often that it doesn't even surprise her anymore.. In fact, this is already sounding less ridiculous than 75% of those calls, so she isn't even bothered. ]
.. Ah, hey. [ She sounds a little surprised though at the line of questioning, she's already thinking about it.. ] I guess I haven't. What, are you trying to do some survey among the people here?
[ Why else would anyone call her, after all, what is being popular!! ]
[he is the normal dude in the secretly abnormal universe so
if nothing else he's got that going for him...]
Kinda, I guess? I might hafta if this keeps bugging me, it just crossed my mind today. With a weird calendar like Asgard's, what do we do about stuff like holidays? More importantly, what happens to people's birthdays??
[ ... wait no she has a vague idea of where this is going but she really hopes that's not it.. because it would be the most unsubtle way to bring something up EVER but fine she'll humor him-- ]
I never really thought about that kind of stuff. I haven't celebrated my own birthday in twelve years, so it didn't even cross my mind, actually. [ she manages to say it in the straightest tone since it's true, okay. ] Besides, when it's about holidays, I doubt most people here even celebrate the same ones.
(but at least seems like you're starting to see where this is going...)]
--Sounds like something else we gotta fix. What season, at least? And yeah, but a lot of us are still from Earth. Shouldn't stop friends from getting together either, I bet lots of guys know Christmas.
[ well okay even if he isn't subtle he's at least nice.. she supposes.. ]
Yeah, I guess I can see you as the type to throw some sort of Christmas party. [ don't say it as if parties are a foreign thing, okay, ange.. well, maybe they are to you, but still!!
(maybe she's also trying to change the subject just a little bit
Christmas? Nah, not so much. Those get-together are for families. All I have around those times is Tohno begging me to crash at my place, go figure. [he doesn't sound too annoyed, despite making a face.] But no, really. How'd you convert the months? I know we're in Fall, the weather tells that much, but then what?
[ BUT... well, fine, she can be nice this once but this better not get her into any awkward situations okay!! ]
It's a little difficult. I can't tell exactly even though I've been here for a while, but if you'd ask me, then I'd say the seasons are moving way too fast compared to what they were like back home. A year's 365 days back home, but so far I haven't even been there for half of that yet even though we've already gone through three seasons. [ ... ] If anything, I'd say it's almost like the seasons are moving twice as fast here. Maybe even thrice, who knows.
Yeah, that sounds about right. Twice'd be fine and all, but it's not like there's a month system here where you can divide properly to make the dates fit. Like, we know the scale, but not the base to work it on? [HEADSCRATCH...] --Bah, this is so confusing. I know it's gotta be close real soon, but not knowing exactly when it OUGHT to be's driving me nuts!!
.. 'It'? From the way you're talking, it's almost as if you're trying to figure out when a certain something will happen. [ NO SHIT SHERLOCK but no okay there's only so much deadpan she can be about this. ]
Normally I'd say it's your birthday you're trying to figure out, but if you're coming to me it's more likely you're wondering about Shiki's, right?
I honestly don't think it's me being sharp as much as it is you being obvious. [ SORRY SHE'S SO BLUNT.. but at least it's not really said in an insulting way, it sounds more casual than anything else. ] But of course I can at least try to help when it's for that guy's sake. When exactly is his birthday in terms of a normal calendar year?
The result is the same, so it doesn't matter. [so smooth...]
It's on October 15th, smack middle of the month. Tohno was never a people person, so I was just thinking of getting the people we live with and a few others close to him together for something. You'll come, right?
[what do you mean we haven't even established any dates and he's already jumping the shark for the event, THIS IS LEGIT PACING]
[ Despite her usual hesitance in dealing with stuff like.. well, friendship or in this case even romance because of hardly or never having to deal with it before, she at least seems firm on this. After all, what reason would she have to not go to her boyfriend's birthday getting together? ]
It's not even a question. I guess I should at least thank you for telling me about his birthday though, I had no idea it was already this close.
[ either way, she has to think about it now-- ] Technically speaking it should be pretty impossible to figure out when exactly it is, since the dates back home vary for everyone who was brought to this place. But since I've been here from the start, I can at least say that it must've been [ ... thinking.. what was the last count someone told her? add some numbers to that-- ] about 156 days ago that I first appeared in this place, along with quite some other people. I don't think anyone was here from different worlds before us.
When I arrived, I guess the season was.. early winter, very early winter, something like that. And ever since then we've been through winter, spring and summer, since it's turning more into autumn now, right?
No probs, and thanks for giving me a hand on this! [SHOUNEN THUMBS UP] The guy normally doesn't do anything on his own, I practically had to force him to come drinking with me every year just so he does something different on the day of, heh! [DON'T REMINISCE LIKE IT'S A GOOD THING... That and ange can probably guess that those sessions ended up with Shiki dragging Arihiko home... oops]
It does, but we know that time passes twice as slow here, or fast, depending on your perspective, and we can still tell the seasons just by the weather, right? It's sumthing to go by. ... [just gonna nod and pretend he's following her. ...Well he SORTA is, he's just not on board 100%, can't blame him alright...] Yeah, makes sense. It's gotten too cold to be August or early September at the very least, which is why I gotta feeling October's either close, or we're already in it.
[ yes ange has a fairly good idea of how stuff works with these two.. but then again, it's not like arihiko is too bad of a guy - she's certainly met worse - so it's not much of a problem. ]
That's what I was thinking too. If it's exactly twice as fast, then a year here should have about 183 days. If my count was right and it's really been about 150 days at least, then we're pretty close to being the year round, right? A month back home should be about.. 15 days here, I guess, so if by that logic we say people first arrived here around late November or early December, it has to be October now. [ somehow this is turning into a teach me ange-sensei segment... ]
.. But then again, that's only assuming a year here is exactly twice as fast as back home.
Yeah, assuming's fine. I don't really care if we're a few days off, and I don't think Tohno will either. So if we say a year here is twice as fast, what day would that make the 15th fall on?
Assuming we started out in late November or early December rather than perfectly at New Years, considering we did celebrate that here.. I'd say somewhere inbetween day 155 and 160. Although I'm leaning more towards the latter than the former, so maybe day 158 or 159.
[ although.. wait, she should ask to make sure-- ] You didn't have any weird ideas for the party though, right? [ like going to a bar.. he was talking about it earlier, okay, just got to make sure. ]
video;;
[SURPRISE PHONECALL, ANGE. ...But totally innocuous line of questioning, okok... He seems pretty serious about it too, it may be worthwhile to note.]
