He has seen grown men and women take their lives out of what they believed was honor, or because they (rightly) believed it was the better option than having to face Ra's al Ghul. The concept of suicide isn't a foreign one.

It's idiocy and it's cowardly! [He takes a step forward and falters, unsure of why he'd even moved in the first place. He has a warrior's experience with death but his age is showing. He had seen the worst of what humanity could do to each other but nothing in his training had covered what a single (good) person could do to themselves. And why.]
