Oh, I get a reward when I'm being a good kid? [ GOD, SENJI.. she means it mostly as a joke though, considering there's almost something amused in her tone despite it being deadpan, and she sips from the drink. ]
Besides, even if onii-chan wouldn't come back, you can make up for it by taking Shu and me out to the amusement park again sometime.
[ for that one's more difficult to tell whether it's a joke or not. ]
[ ... 8| That last part sounds ike he has something in mind.. Senji.. what.. ]
Oh? So, what do you think the three of us should go do then? [ don't say anything ridiculous, don't say anything ridiculous, don't say anything ridiculous.. ]
Yeah, I was pretty surprised by that too.. I figured he was the kind of guy to practically pee his pants over something like that, but I guess I was wrong.
... Still, a rock concert is totally different from a haunted house.
[ Yeah, rock concerts sound like they'd be his kind of thing.. Ange is just apathic to all the things that are supposed to be fun, okay. 8| She glances curiously at him though when she hears that question. Sure, she normally doesn't really talk about her world, but that's more since she feels there's no reason to bring it up.. not like she has some sort of sob story she wants to spread to everyone. But if he's asking, she might as well - Ange never really bothers to keep it secret, and even so Senji is someone she trusts, right? A friend, as weird as that thought is still. ]
My world? [ There's a pause though since.. how does she explain this easily.. ] I guess the whole 'witch' thing started when I was only six. That was when everything started. When I was six years old, my entire family died in an 'incident'. I was the only one who survived since I was sick and couldn't go with them that day, the only other one who survived was one of my aunts, who somehow got away from the incident and returned home alive, but I didn't get along with her at all. She hated me from the very start.
But more importantly.. stories started to spread, and some people thought it wasn't any normal kind of incident, but that it had all happened because of a witch. That my family was killed by magic. Even at my school people believed it, and they verbally and physically abused me over it, calling me a witch over it as well. But I thought it was just ridiculous, that there was no way magic existed. [ surely he thinks the same, from what he had said there wasn't really something like that in his world.. 8U ]
[he takes another swig of his coffee, nearly finished the thing now. He listens to her story and he stares down at his cup. Really.... it sounds so weird, but at the same time... he believes her. If there's something as abnormal as an earthquake that mutates people and turns them into Deadmen, he'll believe something like magic and witches from another world.
Everything was so fucked up though- she was all alone with an aunt that hated her since she was six? Hah, what a shitty world.... sounds like his wasn't the only one that was unfair.]
Did you kick the asses of those kids at school? Heh!
I tried, a few times around the time when it just began. [ Ange's not a complete pushover, after all. ] But there were so many of them against just me that in the end I realised it was just useless, so I thought they might stop thinking it's fun and cut it out when I just wouldn't react to them. But even that didn't stop them.
... Well, I guess this and that happened, and in the end I thought about just making an end to all it. My aunt hated me, the girls at school always hated me, and even when I graduated all people wanted to do was kill me to gain my family's money, since we were pretty rich. [ There's still something as deadpan as usual about her, but it's a little different, maybe just a tad softer as she thinks about all of it. It's not as casual as usual, at least. ]
So I was going to jump off a skyscraper, but.. before I could jump, I was offered an opportunity. A chance to change the past. A witch came to me and she said my help was needed. I had to go back in the past and help out my older brother, who was fighting a battle against the witch who killed our family. It was a battle of logic of sorts though, a battle in which he tried to prove that it was a human and not the witch who killed our family. My job was to help him win and get our family back. That's when I was proclaimed a witch as well.
... It's all a little weird and complicated, but you get it up to this far at least, right?
[He had put his coffee down on the ground and laid down on her bed, his hands behind his head and he stared up at the ceiling as he listened. He gets it though, it was really rough... and he understands what it's like to be alone, what it's like to go through such hard times you don't know what to do with yourself.
But killing yourself isn't the answer, it never is.]
Yeah, I'm followin' just fine. It's kinda weird though, you're trying to oppose magic when you're a witch yourself.
....Then again, humans have been fighting humans for centuries, it's really no different. Fighting your own kind really isn't that off the mark.
It doesn't really make sense at first, I guess, but they said I was able to oppose them so well exactly since I'm one of them.. or something like that.
So I fought with Battler onii-chan against the witch. He didn't know I was his little sister though, since the witch who called me said I couldn't tell him about that no matter what, and he didn't recognize me either, so.. I was like a total stranger to him. But even that much was fine with me, as long as I could be with him against for a while after twelve years and free our family.
But.. even though I fought with everything I got, I never made it that far. When something happened to onii-chan to make him forget who he was and what he was fighting for, I realised my true purpose. I was only brought into the game by that other witch in the first place to.. sacrifice myself. To make onii-chan fight again, to make him defeat the witch and bring our family back home, I had to tell him who I was to motivate him. [ The last part is a bit less pleasant to remember - and the last thing she remembers from back home too, so for a moment she pauses, forcing herself to be as lineface as usual, even if it fades just slightly. ] So I told him. And then.. the witch tore me apart piece by piece because I broke the rule, until there was nothing of me left.
... And then the next thing I remember right after that is suddenly being here.
[.....So, she had to do all that for her brother? Damn, family relationships are pretty strong. He can relate though, he probably would have sacrificed himself for his best friends if he could, die in their place and all. They were good guys, he wasn't, it was as simple as that. They deserved to live over him....
He sighed, closing his eye. That's a pretty big story to take in, and he mulls it over before speaking up again.]
Well, at least you're not dead now that you're here. The gods must have put you back together and conjured you up in Asgard. Maybe in some sick way you should thank them.
You did all that and he disappeared now though.....? What an ungrateful ass. Hm... if I.... when I see him again I'll have to question him about where he went.
[ Thank them? It's not like she asked to be resurrected-- and if Battler wouldn't have been there.. then she probably wouldn't have wanted it to begin with. Even if now, in retrospect, she's actually been able to make.. friends, right? It's weird. ]
.. You don't have to do that much for me, Senji.
[ BUUUUT she knows he might just go into his denial mode at that, so she quickly continues on-- ]
If you want to do anything, then for your own good, stay away from the witches. The one who killed my family and the one who manipulated me are both in this place, the latter even broke into my room. They're still out to harass people, especially me, so it's easier to just ignore them for people like you who aren't involved.
[yeah, he was about to say it wasn't for her or anything!!! And her telling him to stay away only makes his grin grow.]
That shit just sounds like a challenge now- witches don't scare me, and their powers were taken away after getting here right? I could cut 'em up easily.
Who are they exactly? I just wanna know what they look like and shit so I can point 'em out in a crowd.
Why would you want to cut them up, though..? [ NOT LIKE IT'S FOR HER, RIIIIGHT?! ]
And their names are Beatrice and Bernkastel. Beatrice is the one who killed my family.. she has short blonde hair, it's done up. She wears a rose-like thing in her hair too, and an overly pompous dress. And then there's that other witch, Bernkastel.. she looks like a younger girl with long blue hair who looks like she has no emotions at all. ... Even worse than me. [ AT LEAST SHE ADMITS IT. ] And she has a tail like a cat's.
[ THEY JUST HAPPENED TO RUN INTO HIS BLADE, NOT LIKE HE WANTED TO OR ANYTHING!! ]
Yeah. Is there something wrong with having "a goddamn tail"? They're witches, after all, so don't expect they to look or behave normally. They're pretty open about just how much they like humans suffer.
[He laughs a bit at that.] Makin' humans suffer when they fuckin' deserve it is one thing though- but by the sounds of things you family didn't deserve that shit, right?
But cutting up those witches sounds pretty fun- might even be a bit of a challenge.
Of course they didn't deserve it. They did it to me too, and do you think I deserved it? [ well, Senji..? :T ]
... Even when they don't have their powers? I don't know what kind of powers they got assigned here, but it can't be anything like what they had back home. Don't get me wrong, it's not like I'm complaining, though.
